Making Adjustments

Sorry for not writing last week.  But I’m back this week with a new post on “Making Adjustments.”  So just to start I did lose a 1 pound this week according to my scale so that’s exciting.  However, that is also in my mind painfully slow.  So I’m on a quest to at least lose 2 lbs a week.  My metabolism seems like its really gotten slower as I’ve aged which apparently is normal but I won’t accept that fact.  So I’m making the following adjustments to my routine over the next few weeks.

  1. I’m going to incorporate strength training for 3-4 times a week.  I’ve got so many exercise programs, lots from the Beachbody folks.  All of these programs will work with one catch-you have to do them!  Anyway, I’ve got to do some traveling this week so I’m going to start out with a really basic program P90 by Tony Horton for Beach Body.  I’ve got both the original and new version, I think that I’m going to start with and commit to the original P90 although I find if very boring after awhile.  But I’ve had success with it in the past so I’m going to be an adult and overcome being bored.
  2. I’m going to explore adjusting my calorie intake.  I’ve currently  been doing 1950 – 2000 calories per day.  That seems to not be working any longer as I lose weight although my nutritionist said that I’d be able to do that range for a while.  Well it seems like that may be too many calories to achieve my goal in a reasonable amount of time.  Today I weigh 273.5 lbs and my goal is to reach 180 (keep in mind that I started at 297ish, so I’ve made progress).
  3. So I’m also exploring and researching possibly switching or trying a Paleo or doing a controlled low carb plan.  I’m not talking about Atkins although when you say “low carb” that’s the first thing most people think of. Low carb has its place, body builder will use low carb for a period of time as the seek to shed excess fat.  Anyway, these are just thoughts at this point. My goal here is not only to lose weight, but to be healthy and maintain the weight loss once I get done.

Anyway that’s my update.
