I’m attending a conference related to work. I’m out of my normal environment, and I realized yesterday that I’d totally lost my mind or had vacation brain. What I mean is that the further I got from home it seems as though my healthy habits went out the door, when I sat down to calculate my calories I realized that I had totally gone wild with my eating. But also realized it was just one day so no big whoop!

Today was a new day, a fresh start another chance to make good decisions. One good decision I made was to go for a short 25 minute walk (1 mile), before I ate breakfast. It felt great! It was a great feeling of accomplishment to get my exercise in even out of my normal environment.

While on this weight loss journey I think you need to be realistic.  You gotta have fun, you gotta enjoy the journey because if you don’t this journey will be so hard, and if you do accomplish your goal you might still be unhappy.  I’m typing this while listening to a speaker the next session is a ice cream social and I’m going to partake and enjoy, I will count my calories and just enjoy the moment.

Vacation can be the same challenge or worse, one strategy might be just to accept the fact that things will be less restrictive and just have fun.  Keep things in moderation and enjoy the journey!
